And it looks like I'll be setting up a GroupsIO group for MA going forward. I'd rather not do it for the fiction list, so those of you who are on the fiction list but NOT on the main Master and Apprentice list will have to join the main group. I'll also be maintaining the MA Dreamwidth community and will cross-post there (or ask that those of you on both please cross-post important things there). The list is not terribly active so it shouldn't be a burden. Please don't feel like you have to join both, you don't.

Gloriana has graciously offered to help me with GroupsIO and we'll be talking about it tonight on the ConStrict Con monthly Zoom party (interested in attending? Hit me up for info!) tonight. I'll do my best to have the new group set up by the weekend or thereabouts and will post to the list (both places) when I have it done. I'll also post about how to join GroupsIO (you can go to their website and set up an account now if you want, it's not difficult).

If there's anything else I'm forgetting, please do let me know.

I haven't heard from enough people on the Groups IO question, so please let me know here or on the list: if I created a group on Groups IO would you join it? This doesn't mean we have to give up any presence here on DW, it just means we'll continue with a mailing list.

Okay, let's see if I can distill it down. Please somebody jump in and correct me when I get things wrong.

Yahoo Groups entire, and Master and Apprentice specifically, will be dead as of December 15. I knew it was coming since last year and should have run a pot on it, but anyway. I set up a Dreamwidth community called masterandapprentice (https://masterandapprentice.dreamwidth.org/) and have been mirroring posts over there for a while now. There are other MA-type communities on Dreamwidth as well.

Recently I was made aware of another mailing list-type thing called Groups IO (https://groups.io/) where we could set up Master and Apprentice again. It looks as though it runs very much like Yahoo groups and is pretty easy to get to and to send/receive mail to. I know that there are some of us who would rather continue using a mailing list than go to Dreamwidth, which is NOT the same thing, so the question is begged -- should I go ahead and start an IO Group for us or just let everything slide.

I'll go with whatever the consensus is. And I'm mirroring this over on the DW community as well.

Does anybody remember a Qui/Obi fic that starts as Obi's training bond with Qui is severed. Qui immediately takes Annakin as Padawan, and Obi is sent off on his first solo mission to a troubled planet - i can't remember what his exact .mission was. Anyway, between being cut off from Qui, PTSD from Qui nearly becoming toast, his own deep, well-hidden insecurities, Obi becomes severely ill and depressed.

I think this opened him up to having all kinds of dark Force energy messing with his head

I remember he somehow ends up getting rescued and hauled back to Coruscant. Where he's reunited with Qui Gon and all ends happily.

I have no idea who wrote it, but I think it was on the MA Archive. I've been periodically searching for it for about a year now with no luck.

Does this ring any bells with anybody?

There’s a few of my old fics on there because people asked about them, and a ton of newer stuff that’s been happening over the last 3 months.

I’m currently 40K into an arc that’s sparked some interesting discussions about whether it qualifies as QuiObi when you have both a part-Zabrak Qui clone and actual Force Ghost Qui in your fic making a complete disaster family with poor Obi-Wan and Anakin but there you go. I’m enjoying the heck out of writing it!

There’s also rather a lot of the kind of stuff I used to be known for in the olden days - silly X-rated one-shots that occasionally border on the downright cracky, and the latter is largely to blame on the crowd of enablers (or “Padawans on a permanent sugar high” as they like to style themselves) of the QuiObi Discord server. This is a different Discord from the QuiObi Writing one mentioned in an earlier post, and this one is extremely active (I’ve muted half the channels just to be able keep on top of things ;), insanely supportive and absolutely brimming with fantastic enablers, artists, and oh yes, writers too.

I know Discord invites are a bit iffy in that they expire after something like two days but if you’d like to dip a toe in, here’s the link - come play with us!

I’m LuvEwan, mostly a lurker but I’ve been writing Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan since 2002.

I run a little discord group called “QuiObi Writing Discord” where we do daily discussion questions, challenges, writing and Star Wars chat, Ewan and Liam Film club, etc. Discord is a very active place for fandom right now, so hope you check out mine or others out there.
