A question about Groups IO was asked on the list.

Okay, let's see if I can distill it down. Please somebody jump in and correct me when I get things wrong.

Yahoo Groups entire, and Master and Apprentice specifically, will be dead as of December 15. I knew it was coming since last year and should have run a pot on it, but anyway. I set up a Dreamwidth community called masterandapprentice (https://masterandapprentice.dreamwidth.org/) and have been mirroring posts over there for a while now. There are other MA-type communities on Dreamwidth as well.

Recently I was made aware of another mailing list-type thing called Groups IO (https://groups.io/) where we could set up Master and Apprentice again. It looks as though it runs very much like Yahoo groups and is pretty easy to get to and to send/receive mail to. I know that there are some of us who would rather continue using a mailing list than go to Dreamwidth, which is NOT the same thing, so the question is begged -- should I go ahead and start an IO Group for us or just let everything slide.

I'll go with whatever the consensus is. And I'm mirroring this over on the DW community as well.

Gloriana has already started an IO Group and I thought you would have seen that, so I'm confused why we're having this discussion...? Have you not seen Glo starting the group? I can find you the info to join, she needs to send you an invite.

No, I'm on it, the discussion is whether to move Master and Apprentice over to IO Groups or to just keep it here on DW and let it die on Yahoo. There hasn't been a consensus yet on that.

I dropped out of the MA list a while ago, but it would be nice if there's enough interest to continue it. I have occasionally thought about popping back in.

No biggie. It's just a question of whether there's enough interest in mailing groups to continue MA on Groups IO. I don't know if there will be, to be honest.

People seem to be more interested in Discord these days. I've looked at it occasionally and joined a few groups, but it just hasn't clicked with me.

It never clicked with me either, so it's not just you. I went there a few times and that was it.

Discord is exactly like its name, complete chaos. It's really difficult to see old posts there.

Yes! It's very confusing. I too like M-A on DW. I liked the list, but I don't need two of the same thing at this point. So, I'd just assume stay on DW.
